Christian League of Athletics for Youth ("CLAY")
The Christian League of Athletics for Youth (“CLAY”), based in Erie, Pennsylania, has completed its fourth sports ministry season. CLAY’s vision of “using the Holy Spirit to guide the spirit of competition” is wrapped around a basketball program that offers competitive team play in a Christian environment for youth from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Churches, Christian and Parochial schools, as well as other Christian-based organizations can sponsor teams. CLAY participation can be integrated into existing youth programs, used to start a new area of youth outreach, or just provide an opportunity for your youth to participate in an organized sports program.
CLAY Basketball starts with the "Fun" division - grades K-2. Shorter hoops and coaches traveling the length of the court help this co-ed age group learn the "fun"-damentals.
The "Developmental" division (grades 3-4), gets the players used to full size hoops and challenges them to develop their skills. Separate teams for boys and girls, skill classifications and PIAA-certified (Pennsylvania) referees are introduced starting at the Developmental division.
The "Competition" divisions are grouped into four divisions for older players: C1 is for grades 5-6, C2 is for grades 7-8, C3 is for grades 9-10 and C4 is for grades 11-12. There are separate boys and girls teams for each division.
Regardless of grade level, you can be sure to catch some exciting games every Saturday morning from New Year's to Easter!
